Easter Seals Cool Runnings 12 years 2 months ago #34

Needed: Volunteers!!

We have been asked to assist Surry County ARES with the the communications for the Easter Seals "Cool Runnings" that will be happening on Saturday 03-24-12.
This is a 5K and 8K run in Mt. Airy and we need everyone that can to come out and help with the communications.
No, we are not asking anyone to run in the event, (unless you really want to...) just to do what you do best: talk on the radio!
What would we do? We will be helping the Surry County ARES group to handle the very same duties that were handled at the Pilot Mountain Marathon:

Keeping track of the runners
Get help or assistance to those that need it
Pass along other race-related info

We will need as many members as possible to come out and help. Don't worry, they will have a position for everyone!

This is a time when we, as a group, can benefit from this event to hone our communication skills and practice properly handling the passing of information clearly and professionally; to have the chance to make sure your radio equipment works and works properly; that your radio batteries work / hold a good charge and your programming is current.

The event occurs all inside of Mt Airy, and the event start/finish lines will be at Veteran's Memorial Park on W. Lebanon St. in Mt. Airy.

Please express your interest by contacting our EC, Larry WB4UYY or our AECs Brian AB1JU and Michele KB1UNY. You can also use the contact us form on the website.
We hope to see you there!
