New changes to the PRN network 9 years 8 months ago #157

Changes:
1. Greater system reliability will come from having dual national servers which are clones of each other. One will take over if the other fails.

2. New Talkgroups
a. The Parrot, Talkgroup 9998-- This talkgroup operates on demand and allows you to test your audio quality and loudness. You will be able to record five seconds of audio on the North America Talkgroup Server (NATS) and as soon as your test message is completed, NATS will feed your test audio back. This will be useful when checking to see if your radio is too loud or too soft.
b. TAC310, Talkgroup 310—This talkgroup is on demand and temporarily links two or more repeaters anywhere in US without tying up the all repeaters across the US.
c. DMR TAC 1, Talkgroup 8951—This is an on demand group that links repeaters around the world and does not use the German server. Only those repeaters which kerchunk to connect are activated unless a particular CBridge owner has set it up for a permanent connection.

3. System Changes
a. The Fancy Gap Talkgroup will change from 27711 to 27102. A mistake was made several months ago when a PRN codeplug was released that gave Fancy Gap and Wilmington the same local talkgroup number. A new codeplug will correct the error. Meanwhile the CBridge will recognize either userID as Fancy Gap Local.
b. Charleston Local, 27505—This talkgroup links both Charleston (N&S) repeaters with the same Local talkgroup.

4. New Repeaters:
a. South Charleston SC – 442.3875 –now on air.
b. North Charleston SC—442.4625 --coming before end of 2014.
c. Dillon SC—443.1625—now on air. Coverage is expected to cover I95 in from near Fayetteville NC and in South Carolina to near Charleston. Currently experiencing desense.
d. Caesars Head SC—443.1125—This repeater will be located northwest of Greenville SC and will be coming before end of 2014
e. Wilmington NC—444.2375—Expected to be on the air before the end of 2014. I heard Danny bench testing the repeater.
f. Lexington NC/High Rock Lake—443.6375—W4SNA is working on internet access for this site which will fill the void around Lexington. Expected on air by end of year.
g. Hendersonville NC—441.8875—repeater has been delivered and the antenna and internet will be installed in October 2014. Bench testing from Hendersonville began 9/9/14.
h. Level Cross/Greensboro—442.8875. Repeater in on the air in test mode at owner’s home in Angier, NC. To be mounted at 1300 foot level of a tv tower near Randleman, NC. 442.8875 had been labeled in older codeplugs as Sanford. A forthcoming codeplug will have 442.8875 listed as GSO.
i. Sanford NC—442.3375. A new frequency has been assigned to Sanford to allow Level Cross/Greensboro to have 442.8875 which was originally coordinated for wide area coverage at Level Cross but temporarily used in Sanford. A new codeplug will have the correct frequency for Sanford.
j. Johnson City—443.5625. This repeater is on the air but has very limited coverage (home operation) while K1LNX searches for a mountaintop location where internet access is available.
k. Raleigh WRAL TV tower—There will be a second repeater in the Raleigh area which will be mounted on the 1300 foot level of the WRAL tower and is expected to cover approximately a 75 mile radius around Auburn in central North Carolina (off US 70, southeast of Garner).
